thanks for sharing and congrats - on the personal victory and on becoming an award-winning writer

this line reminds me of gabriel garcia marquez: 'From birth, I was plagued with restlessness and a desire to feel more than I normally do.' I'm sure you've read 100 Years, but would probably feel good to brush up on it. it did for me!

also this piece makes me wonder if I can run a marathon

keep running :)

Thanks. It spilled right out and was one of the easiest stories I've ever written.

This must have been quite cathartic for you to write. Did it come out easily, or did it take you some reflective time? Either way, it's an amazing and epic story. Thank you for sharing it; it took a lot of courage. I finally took the time to write the story of my demons and how long they controlled me, but I don't think I could openly share it like this.

Besides your funny article regarding Facebook, Josh, this is another favorite of mine; a serious piece that is inspirational to anybody who wants to feel better in the long run.

We all want to feel good. For some it can be a self-destructive problem: gambling, drugs, sex, and excessive shopping. Many of us have habits such as these. Indeed exercise is a healthy alternative in getting a high. It can help with acute depression which may be the reason why people turn to those vices in the first place.

I hope you are always stronger than your demons, Josh.

I know! That's how I was, too! I could only run for 2 and-a-half minutes and my man boobs would jiggle everywhere.

amazing story. happy sobriety birthday man! i've been having the drinking and drugging dreams more often lately. but i know that even if i'm weak, i'm so effing stubborn i'll stay sober, at least for now.

you are a total inspiration. i'm hoping to be marathon ready by next year. i can only run for like 45 minutes now, but when i started 9 months ago i couldn't run 5 minutes.
